Submission Checklists

For Authors

Use this checklist to confirm that your submission to the Journal of Rural and Tropical Nursing (JRTN) is complete before beginning the online submission process. Incomplete submissions may be returned for technical revision before editorial assessment.

Required Submission Files

Three files are mandatory for every initial submission. Submissions that do not include all three may be returned before editorial assessment begins.

  1. 01

    Anonymized Main Manuscript

Prepared using the current official JRTN article template and submitted as an editable DOC or DOCX file.

The file must contain the manuscript title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, figures, and all applicable declarations. Author names, affiliations, email addresses, acknowledgements, and any other identifying information must be removed, including from document properties and tracked changes.

  2. 02

    Title Page

Contains complete author information: full names, institutional affiliations, countries, email addresses, and ORCID iDs where available. Identify the corresponding author and provide complete contact details.

The Title Page must also include the authorship contribution statement, acknowledgements, funding information, ethics information where applicable, and the conflict-of-interest declaration for all authors. When no conflict exists, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

If the manuscript involves an AI declaration relevant to manuscript preparation, include a brief statement identifying the tool used and the nature of its use.

  3. 03

    Cover Letter

Briefly explain the manuscript's principal contribution, originality, and relevance to JRTN's scope of rural, tropical, remote, underserved, or resource-limited nursing and healthcare.

Confirm that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere, has not been published previously, has been approved by all authors, and complies with applicable ethical requirements. Identify the study design and the primary reporting guideline applied.

Optional supporting files: a completed reporting checklist, research instrument, supplementary data, protocol, or other relevant material may be uploaded when appropriate. These files are not required for every initial submission unless requested by the editorial office.

After Acceptance

Following a decision to accept the manuscript, authors will be asked to provide additional documentation to complete the publication process.
