Access and Rights

Authors retain copyright in their work published in the Journal of Rural and Tropical Nursing (JRTN). Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright to their published work. JRTN does not require a copyright transfer. By submitting a manuscript for publication, authors grant JRTN a non-exclusive licence to publish the article under the CC BY 4.0 licence, including the right to distribute, reproduce, and make the work available online.

Institution-owned copyright

In some cases, copyright in a work is owned by the author's institution rather than the individual author. Authors whose institution holds copyright in their work should ensure that the institution has agreed to publication under the CC BY 4.0 licence before submission.

Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 Licence

Share Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, including commercially.
Adapt Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially.
Attribution required You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
No additional restrictions You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the licence permits.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any third-party material — including figures, tables, photographs, or excerpts — that is not covered by an open licence. Written evidence of permission must be available on request. Authors must clearly identify third-party material in the manuscript and cite the source. Third-party material included under a specific licence that is more restrictive than CC BY 4.0 must be clearly identified, and the applicable licence must be noted in the figure or table caption.
