Editorial Policies

The Journal of Rural and Tropical Nursing (JRTN) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the published record. When errors or misconduct are identified after publication, JRTN takes appropriate corrective action following COPE guidelines.

Types of Post-Publication Action

Correction (Erratum) A correction notice is issued when an honest error in a published article affects the accuracy of specific content but does not affect the overall findings, conclusions, or integrity of the research. The original article is updated and linked to the correction notice.
Retraction A retraction is issued when the findings or conclusions of a published article are unreliable due to honest error or misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or undisclosed ethical violations. The retracted article remains accessible but is clearly marked as retracted.
Expression of Concern An expression of concern may be published when an investigation is ongoing and the editorial office cannot yet confirm the nature or extent of a potential problem, but readers should be aware that the integrity of the article is under review.
Removal In rare cases involving legal obligations, safety concerns, or content that is defamatory or infringes personal rights, an article may be removed from the website entirely. When removal occurs, the metadata and a statement of removal are retained at the original URL.

Process

Author-initiated Authors who identify a significant error in their published article should contact the editorial office immediately at editorial@pekamerawatnegeri.com. The editorial office will assess the error and determine the appropriate action.
Third-party report Concerns about published articles may be reported to the editorial office by readers, reviewers, or other parties. All reports are investigated confidentially in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Timeline JRTN aims to issue corrections and retractions promptly after a problem has been confirmed. The authors are contacted and given the opportunity to respond before a retraction is issued unless the circumstances do not permit this.
Transparency All corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern are published openly, linked to the original article, and indexed where possible.
